«WESTERN RUSSIA. CONTEMPORARY ART OF KALININGRAD», EXHIBITION PROJECT IN ST. PETERSBURG
1-8 November, 2009 Manege Central Exhibition Hall, St. Petersburg. In the frames of the Second International Festival of Independent Art SEA LEVEL, dedicated to 20th anniversary of the Pushkinskaya 10 Art-Center, the Kaliningrad Branch of the NCCA demonstrated an exhibition project Western Russia. Contemporary Art of Kaliningrad. The curators are Yevgeny Umansky and Irina Chesnokova.

Western Russia project is a programme of the KB NCCA, aiming at representation of Kaliningrad contemporary art and its support by different means. The main idea of the programme is to emphasize attention of art community in Russia and abroad to contemporary artists from Kaliningrad and popularization of the territory, which topics they are dealing with.

Western Russia. Contemporary Art of Kaliningrad exhibition project is a retrospective of Kaliningrad contemporary art, representing a wide range of artistic techniques: from socio-political projects to new technologies and sound art.
In the frames of the Festival «Sea Level» in Manege CEH video works by Yevgeny Umansky, Yuri Vassiliev, Dmitry Bulatov, Yevgeny Palamarchuk, Oleg Blyablyas and art group «Common trembling» were shown. The demonstration was followed up with a presentation programme about contemporary artists from Kaliningrad.
