“FRANCE-RUSSIA 2010”: THE KALININGRAD BRANCH OF THE NCCA PROGRAMME

In the frames of the year «France-Russia 2010» the Kaliningrad Branch of the National Centre for Contemporary Arts presents the following projects:

France in Russia
14-15 May
Kronprinz Tower (Litovsky val, 38, Kaliningrad)

Special project of the international programme «Tower Kronprinz: Second Advent»
Bertrand Ivanoff (Paris, France) «Kronprinz Tower Light Project» installation
Curators: Elena Tsvetaeva, Yuliya Bardun, Anastasiya Karpenko

On the night of the 14th /15th May 2009 The Kronprinz Tower becomes the main light installation, created by the author from neon tubes. Rays of light will pierce the space of the Kronprinz Tower and become emblematic bridges between a motionless monument and trees growing around it. Uniting within the project the historical monument and a constantly changing, living nature, the artist draws a symbolic parallel between the past and the future.

The project is carried out in the frames of the year «France-Russia 2010» with the support of French institute in Sankt-Petersburg.
Technical realisation of the project is implemented by OOO «NeonikaN» (Kaliningrad).

Contemporary French Video from the collection of the MAC/VAL Contemporary Art Museum (Paris, France)

MAC/VAL is one of the newest museums in Paris, it was opened in 2005. The collection of the museum accounts for several thousands of works by French and international artists, living in France. Especially for the exhibition in Russia video films, created in the last decade, were selected. Presented works reflect special approach of the MAC/VAL collection, the main theme of which is the history of emigration, movements and travels. Films offer a viewer to draw parallels between general and personal stories; try to understand the reason why people emigrate, what they follow in the path of traveling and what emerges in the end of the way?
